Bears Week 3 Injury Report: Burton, Jackson, Long limited on Thursday

The Bears’ injury report was a little longer than usual following Thursday’s practice, where four starters were limited participants in preparation for Monday night’s game against the Redskins.

Tight end Trey Burton, nose tackle Eddie Goldman, safety Eddie Jackson, and right guard Kyle Long were all limited on Thursday. Defensive tackle Bilal Nichols, who broke his hand against the Broncos, did not practice.

Nichols isn’t expected to play in Monday’s game against the Redskins, but coach Matt Nagy doesn’t expect him to land on injured reserve. The Bears will try to utilize a club in the coming weeks, similar to how they treated Leonard Floyd’s broken hand last season.

“We’re just trying to go through things to see how that goes as far as the future here,” Nagy said, via the Sun-Times. “For him, for this week, it doesn’t look good.”

Burton has been limited throughout practice as he continues to work back from a strained groin muscle. While he finally returned to live game action last week against the Broncos, his workload was light, as he saw just three targets, where he had two catches for 5 yards.

Burton’s recovery will continue to be a process as they work him back into game shape.

Goldman continues to nurse an oblique muscle, but he’s been ready to go on game day.

Jackson and Long are newcomers to Chicago’s injury report. Jackson is nursing a shoulder injury while Long has a hip issue.
