Clemmings started 30 games for the Vikings in 2015-16 after being selected in the fourth round of the 2015 draft. He made two starts for the Redskins in 2017 before being claimed by the Raiders. He appeared in four games, with no starts, before being waived with an injury designation in November.

The Bears moved last year’s swing tackle, Bradley Sowell, to tight end this offseason. The Bears like Sowell’s athleticism, but he figures to be primarily a blocker if he makes the team,

When asked about backup tackle candidates earlier this month, Bears coach Matt Nagy singled out Rashaad Coward, whom the Bears converted from defensive line to offensive tackle last year.

To make room for Clemmings, the Bears cut Northwestern alum Tommy Doles for the second time this month.
