Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky not expected to practice Wednesday, could miss Giants game

Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky is not expected to practice Wednesday because of his injured right shoulder, creating significant doubt about his availability for Sunday's road game against the Giants.

Coach Matt Nagy informed reporters Wednesday morning of Trubisky's status. He reiterated his assertion that Trubisky's injury will not require a long-term recovery, but this development positions him to miss a second straight game.

"I think the time (off) was good for him," Nagy said. "I don't know his exact pain level right now, but I definitely think his arrow is up."

Trubisky was hurt in the Nov. 18 win over the Vikings on an illegal hit by safety Harrison Smith. He missed the Lions game four days later, but the Bears were optimistic he could return this week.

Instead, Chase Daniel is expected to continue to receiver the starter's repetitions in practice.

Nagy said Daniel's success in beating the Lions isn't a factor in Trubisky's status, nor is the Giants' 3-8 record.

"We're going to do what's best for Mitch," Nagy said. "We're going to do what's best for us."
