Late Saturday night, the Bears put backup safety Deon Bush on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list.

Bush did not test positive for the coronavirus, but he was in close contact with someone outside of the team who did.

He was quarantined away from the team in Nashville, Tennessee, one day before the game against the Titans.

Bush is the fourth Bears player to be put on the list this week, though his case is unrelated to that of center Cody Whitehair and tackle Jason Spriggs, who have the coronavirus. Right guard Germain Ifedi was on the list because he was in close contact with Spriggs, but was activated Friday and will start Sunday.

Bush has played in six games this season. In five years with the Bears, he’s played 60 times and started eight games. With Bush out, the Bears will turn to DeAndre Houston-Carson — who, with Bush out, had a game-saving pass breakup to beat the Buccaneers and an interception to defeat the Panthers — to play behind Eddie Jackson and Tashaun Gipson.
