Bears’ Justin Fields faces tall order in first prime-time start

Justin Fields is gearing up for his first prime-time start when the Chicago Bears battle the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football.

But Fields faces an uphill battle against a good Steelers defense on the road, where Fields has had some of his worst games in his young career.

History isn’t on his side either as rookie quarterbacks are 1-17 at Heinz Field since 2004, according to Stathead.

To make matters worse, those 18 quarterbacks were sacked an average of 3.3 times. Also, the Steelers rank seventh in the league in sacks per pass attempt. Which doesn’t bode well for Fields, who is the most-sacked quarterback in the NFL.

Fields is coming off the best performance of his young career against the 49ers, where he looked poised and decisive under center. Fields flashed all of the things that make him a talented prospect, including his athleticism, where he rushed for 103 yards and had two total touchdowns on the afternoon.

Chicago — and Fields — will be looking to build off their Week 8 performance when they face Pittsburgh. But it won’t be easy on the road in prime time against a good Steelers defense.
