Bears hand out jersey numbers for draft picks, free agents

The Bears have handed out jersey numbers for their newest players.

Former Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet will wear No. 85, while fellow second-round pick Jaylon Johnson, the former Utah cornerback, will wear No. 33. Fifth-rounders Trevis Gipson (99), Darnell Mooney (11) and Kindle Vildor (46) got their numbers, as did seventh-rounders Lachavious Simmons (73) and Arlington Hambright (71).

Veteran safety Tashaun Gipson, who signed on Friday and figures to start alongside Eddie Jackson, will wear No. 38. New receiver Trevor Davis will wear No. 4 and defensive tackle John Jenkins will wear No. 90.

Undrafted free agent Ledarius Mack will wear No. 57. His brother Khalil, a fellow inside linebacker, wears No. 52.

To accommodate the new numbers, cornerback Duke Shelley is switching from No. 33 to 20, safety Kentrell Brice is going from No. 38 to to 43.

The Bears announced numbers for quarterback Nick Foles (9), tight end Jimmy Graham (80) and outside linebacker Robert Quinn (94) last month.
