Beaming Timo Werner poses with Hearts flag after ending Celtic Champions League dream

Fresh from crushing Celtic 's hopes of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League, Timo Werner was all smiles as he posed with Hearts fans at Glasgow Airport.

The RB Leipzig front man broke Hoops hearts on Tuesday night after he headed home the opener in the Bundesliga outfit's 2-0 Group F victory at Parkhead. Emil Forsberg added a late second to ensure that Ange Postecoglou's side can finish third at best, meaning their only hope of European football beyond Christmas is by dropping into the Europa League. To do so, they'll have to beat Shakhtar Donetsk at home then avoid defeat to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in their final fixture.

Marco Rose's squad jetted back to Germany this afternoon in order to prepare for their league clash at home to Hertha Berlin on Saturday. Werner insisted the noise at Celtic Park was louder than when Leipzig took on the Spanish champions in Madrid. But he got up close and personal with another group of Scottish football fans as he made his way home with his team-mates.

Robbie Neilson and his Hearts players will head to Florence this afternoon ahead of their Europa Conference League Group A clash with Fiorentina following last Thursday's 3-0 home reverse against the Serie A side at Tynecastle. But thousands of Jambos have been making their way to the Italian city via a whole manner of weird and wonderful routes this week.

And one group of intrepid explorers spotted Werner and his RB colleagues in the departure lounge ahead of their flight back to Germany. And they couldn't resist asking the former Chelsea man for a photo, complete with Hearts flag. Of course, social media rules dictate that "Werner is a Jambo" now after happily posing and grinning away with his merry band of maroon admirers.
