BBC Weather forecasts Edinburgh to see highs of 20C as temperatures set to spike

Weather forecasters at the BBC have said that the city is set to see highs of 20C towards the end of the week.

These temperatures are set to happen across a two day period with a third day set to see highs of 19C as the city warms up.

Predicting what's to come for the capital, experts have said that locals and tourists in Edinburgh can expect the soaring and sunny temperatures to start this Thursday (August 25) with the days beforehand looking dreich.

The BBC have said that Edinburgh will see temperatures highs of 20C with the same highs also set to happen on Saturday making for a sunny and dry weekend. In between however, temperatures on Friday (August 26) are predicted to dip ever so slightly reaching 19C.

Discussing the latest weather for this evening (August 23), the BBC Weather experts add: "This evening, clear spells will develop at first, although eastern areas will see a few lingering showers. Clouding over from the west in the early hours along with a band of rain in the south."

This Evening and Tonight

Largely dry in the east but some scattered showers in the west at first this evening. Bands of showery rain will then push north-eastwards overnight, with some heavy bursts. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Wednesday

A dry start in the west, with rain clearing the east by mid morning. Dry with sunny spells for the rest of the day. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday

Largely dry and sunny through Thursday and Friday but scattered showers developing Friday afternoon, these potentially heavy. Dry and sunny on Saturday.
