BBC viewers slam 'absolutely appalling' Christmas TV schedule

While Christmas isn't all about what's on TV, it still remains a big part of people's festivities.

Especially if there is a special episode of a much-loved series on.

The BBC attracted millions of us to BBC One last Christmas day thanks to the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special.

But this year, viewers have been left bitterly dissapointed.

The broadcaster released its full Christmas and New Year schedule on social media on Tuesday (December 1) and it features Call the Midwife, a trip to Walford in EastEnders, Blankety Blank and plenty of films for the younger members of the family.

However, The Sun has discovered that HALF of BBC1's programmes this Christmas will be repeats - including an attempt to repeat last year's Gavin and Stacey success with a re-run on Christmas Eve.

And viewers let their feelings known.

"That is absolutely appalling," fumed one.

Another said: "As if 2020 couldn't get any worse."

"Look guys, even the BBC is phoning it in until 2021 so give yourself a break," added a third.

"God almighty remember good Christmas tv?" another said.

Others, however, defended the broadcaster.

One wrote: "You may have not realised, but there's been a massive pandemic this year making it difficult to film anything."

"To everyone in this thread. There's been a pandemic on, no one has been making content. Literally no one," echoed another.
