BBC The One Show flooded with complaints after The Repair Shop Christmas special is 'ruined'

The One Show has come under fire after viewers have complained that the programme has 'ruined' an upcoming episode of another BBC show. The talk show aired on Monday night with hosts Harry Judd and Michelle Ackerley to discuss current affairs with a mix of guest interviews.

The co-hosts welcomed the likes of Vicky McClure into the studio, with the actress discussing her new psychological thriller drama Without Sin. But the talk of the show was when the presenters showed an exclusive preview of the Christmas special of The Repair Shop which left viewers outraged.

The Repair Shop is known for seeing members of the public take some of their most treasured antiques into the experts in the hopes of having them restored to their former glory. The daytime BBC show is set to air on Boxing Day with a festive special, and The One Show viewers were given an exclusive look ahead of it airing next week.

The preview clip saw the experts Jay Blades, Julie Tatchell and Amanda Middleditch in the barn as they greeted a woman Jean and her two daughters.

The family had a Santa Claus teddy that they wanted restoring as it was an item that Jean and her husband, who had since passed away, bought from Woolworths in 1962.

Jean told Jay: "My husband was a Christmas man, he'd decorate the house from the ceiling to the bottom. Santa means the world to me now because of my husband. He reminds us of my husband. And now the children have got him they think of their dad all the time."

Jean's daughter Sharon added: "It would be nice to have him as a nice, happy chappy. He used to be able to stand but he has now gone all floppy."

The four-minute preview showed the experts get to work, but viewers were left fuming after The One Show clip revealed the antique Santa toy was brought back to life.

The One Show has now been flooded with complaints with many saying that the show has 'spoiled' the festive surprise.

@suebaggy tweeted: "So #theoneshow has just ruined #therepairshop christmas episode by showing the Santa being fixed and what it looks like. No point watching now ffs."

@AgeingLock68 echoed: "No need to watch that part of the Christmas @TheRepairShop as #theoneshow have given away the surprise. Well done, complete spoiler. Thanks @BBCOne - idiots."

@ronan367 added: "Thanks for spoiling the Christmas Repair Shop @BBC #TheOneShow."

@xDiamond_Girlx wrote: "#TheOneShow Christ I thought you were going to show the whole episode there. What is that all about."

The Repair Shop returns for a Christmas special on BBC1 on Boxing Day at 8pm.
