BBC Strictly's Carlos Gu shuts down romance question on ITV Good Morning Britain after Molly Rainford rumours

Strictly Come Dancing star Carlos Gu was quick to respond after he and celebrity dance partner Molly Rainford were quizzed on romances behind-the-scenes. The pair were on Good Morning Britain to chat about starring in the BBC One dance competition after surviving the dance-off last weekend.

CBBC star Molly and new pro dancer Carlos landed in the bottom-two during Sunday night's results show following their couple's choice routine to the Grange Hill Theme Tune. The remaining couples were honouring the BBC's centenary by performing to iconic theme tunes or songs honouring the broadcaster's programme.

They went up against Jayde Adams and her professional partner Karen Hauer who reprised their Charleston to comic song The Ballad Of Barry And Freda (Let’s Do It), which was written and performed by fellow comedian Victoria Wood. After both couples had danced for a second time, it was a unanimous decision by the judges to save Molly and Carlos.

But during their appearance on GMB, host Adil Ray wanted to hear some "backstage gossip" and asked, "who was flirting with who," to which Molly replied: "It's such a tight-knit group and I think you guys will know everyone is so close, we have Friday night take away and the professionals are so lovely."

Adil, however, was quick to push: "Are there dramas though? There must be tantrums?" Molly denied all possible dramas, telling Adil: "I think that will come later in the competition." But his co-host Charlotte Hawkins then asked if anyone was "cosying up" but Carlos replied with a laugh: "I think it is too early to talk about that."

And Molly, who is the youngest in the competition, replied: "Do you know what? No. There actually isn't. I think that will come later in the competition. We're still trying to better ourselves."

It comes after Molly was rumoured to be growing close to Ukrainian professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin. But the singer and actress also shared that her parents are in the audience every weekend to cheer her on from the sidelines. Molly explained: "I've had them in the audience since the launch show and I feel like they are my safety blanket now. If they are not there I feel like there is something wrong, so they have to be there."

Speaking for the first time about finding herself in the bottom two, Molly, 21, told Rylan Clark on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two on Tuesday night (October 25) that she had to "hold back some tears". Alongside Carlos, the CBBC star said on the BBC2 show: "That was tough.

Carlos was quick to answer back (ITV)

"I definitely had to hold back some tears because I was like ‘No! I’m having so much fun! This can’t be my last dance.'" Despite receiving a score of 30 from the judging panel – the couple’s lowest score of the series so far – the pair made it through to the upcoming Halloween week.

But some viewers wondered if she made a subtle dig at the show's choice of theme. Reflecting on the judges' critique from Saturday night, Molly said: "I think after watching Tyler and Dianne's couples choice and they did a similar style, the judges were kind of into it so we thought maybe there's a good chance of them enjoying our one.

"But I completely get what they were saying, I guess with the theme tune and everything it wasn't quite as exciting as some of our dances have been because there wasn't a lot of places to take it. So it was more down to us to take it somewhere else..."
