BBC Strictly fans notice 'problems' as show releases songs and dances for week two

Fifteen celebs took to the dancefloor for the first time at the weekend as they launched the Strictly Come Dancing class of 22. A host of stars kicked off the BBC dance contest to take us through autumn through to December and topping the leaderboard on Saturday night was snake-hipped Will Mellor.

The Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Two Pints of Lager actor came top of the table with 34 points, tying with wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin. At the bottom of the table was footballing star Tony Adams and his pro dance partner Katya Jones with 15 points for their Arsenal theme routine.

Strictly has now revealed its song and dance choices for week two. The picks have raised eyebrows among viewers who have taken to Twitter to have their say. Ellie Simmonds and Nikita Kuzmin will waltz to Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley.

Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe will paso doble to Les Toreadors by Georges Bizet. Fleur East and Vito Coppola will perform the Viennese waltz to Glimpse Of Us by Joji and Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez will cha cha to Rain On Me by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.

Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer will tango to Rumour Has It by Adele, Kaye Adams and Kai Widdrington will charleston to Music! Music! Music! By Dorothy Provine and Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima will Viennese waltz to Runaway by The Corrs.

Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu will quickstep to Love On Top by Beyoncé, Hamza and Jowita Przystal will jive to Blinding Lights by The Weeknd and James Bye and Amy Dowden will tango to Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran.

Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova will samba to Night Fever by the Bee Gees, Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice will quickstep to Dancin’ Fool by Barry Manilow and Tony and Katya will charleston to My Old Man’s A Dustman by Foster and Allen.

Tyler West and Dianne Buswell will jive to Hit The Road Jack by Buster Poindexter and Will and Nancy Xu will salsa to Never Too Much by Luther Vandross, which has sent fans into a frenzy after he grabbed attention with their debut jive to Livin’ La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin.

Strictly fans were intrigued by the choices and some spotted potential problems. @AMG_Review tweeted to the official Strictly account: "Very interesting that two of the bottom three from week one’s leaderboard have Charleston’s…a dance that is historically more generously marked."

@RhysBenjamin commented: "Double Latin for Will… hmmm…"@deafinitelyhere messaged: "Charleston for Kaye and Tony, you really want to get rid of them both." @DrrewRya said: "Think Tyler may be in trouble there ..." And @LilKButler said: "Tony’s been given a comedy song that probably won’t improve his chances."

But @james_hol2 applauded: "Amazing song choices for week 2." @toogal28 exclaimed: "Can't wait see it My old man's a dustman wow!" And @M1CHELLEMALLON praised: "NEVER TOO MUCH THANK YOU STRICTLY GODS." Strictly returns on Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
