BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Nikita Kuzmin heaped with praise over amazing gesture as he missed tour dates

Strictly Come Dancing star Nikita Kuzmin has been flooded with praise as he turned his isolation into a fundraiser.

The professional dancer was left gutted last week when he had to pull out of the opening shows of the BBC One hit's live tour.

Nikita, who was partnered with Tilly Ramsay for the 2021 series, was due to perform with his dance partner in Birmingham from last Thursday (January 20) until Sunday night before the show moves on to the next venue.

But he had to announce to fans that he wouldn't be appearing in the string of shows after testing positive for coronavirus.

Nikita, however, made the most of his time stuck in his hotel room by fundraising for Diabetes UK.

The 24-year-old was praised by Strictly viewers during his last dance in the BBC competition last year after fans couldn't help notice the diabetic port at the back of Nikita's arm after he pulled off his shirt near the end of his and Tilly's dance-off routine.

Some viewers spotted the white patch, which is used for people suffering from Type 1 diabetes.

He has new raised more than £1500 for Diabetes UK after doing a live stream on his Instagram page all day on Saturday.

The brilliant gesture saw Nikita tracking his steps and staying on the move in his room while answering questions from fans who were commenting and donating along.

There was also a special appearance from Tilly, who was backstage at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham with her Strictly co-stars, and 2021 alumni Dan Walker.

He even did a sing-along to Camila Cabello's track, Consequences, which he should have been dancing to with Tilly.

Sharing an update on Sunday, the dancer said on Instagram: "WE DID IT! Over 1585£/6H(5H live)/ 18KM walked for @diabetesuk.

"Just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who joined, commented, made questions, sang, danced, and DONATED in yesterdays live! It was truly wholesome experience and we did it TOGETHER!

"I had no goal for the amount which I was planning to raise, specially because it was all on spot improvised. To be honest, i thought would end up being a complete flop, but still gave it a try.

"Oh boy it was worth it! You guys are just WOW, you turned up and made an impact! Thank you for that."

Nikita was previously praised for showing his libre on Strictly (BBC)

Tilly, 19, was among the first to comment, writing: "Amazing u smashed it."

"LEGEND," Dan Walker simply added.

Maisie Smith, who is currently performing on the Strictly tour, wrote: "WELL DONE U."

And fans were also quick to applaud him.
