BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Helen Skelton dubbed a 'gem' as she shares defiant message about 'good people'

Helen Skelton has continued to be flooded with praise and support from fans following the end of Strictly Come Dancing. The Countryfile presenter made it all the way to the final of the BBC One dance contest alongside professional dancer Gorka Marquez.

Helen and Gorka faced Fleur East and Vito Coppola, Hamza Yassin and Jowita Prytzal, and Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu in a fight for the Glitterball trophy last Saturday night (December 17).

The pair impressed for weeks with their routines with viewers thrilled to see Helen, 39, growing in confidence as the weeks went on. But after performing three routines in the final, it wasn't to be and the public chose Hamza and Jowita as their Strictly 2022 winners leading to Helen and Gorka being the subject of 'robbed' complaints.

However, Helen couldn't appear any happier with her experience on the hit show and has been 'spamming' her Instagram followers with memories from her 13-week dancing journey. Sharing video montage of images from her time on Strictly earlier this week, set to Journey track 'Don't Stop Believing', Helen penned: "Probably going to be a bit of strictly spam on here for a while. Sorry about that. Random reel of some moments that made me smile.

"Huge congratulations @jowitaprzystal and @hamzayassin90 you’ve been brill all series and more than deserved that win! @mollyrainford @gkx_carlos your next chapters will be epic. @fleureast @vitocoppola you will always be the people I try to be more like.

"But the man of the hour for me is Mr @gorka_marquez I will be forever proud of how hard we worked, how we carried ourselves and how far we went. For me the reaction in that room said everything we didn’t need to. I will be forever grateful for your friendship and how you have kept my counsel. We didn’t take the ball but we did blow the roof off that place and that is a feeling I will NEVER forget."

The former Blue Peter star then ended her post: "Thank YOU for getting us to the final your messages and support have given us this adventure. #strictly #strictlycomedancing." And now Helen has returned to Instagram with another snap, this time showing her cosied up between Gorka and fellow Strictly 22' alumni Tony Adams and his dance partner Katya Jones.

"Many a memory. Many a friendship," the mum-of-three started the caption of her post before issuing a defiant message. "Grateful for good times and a fab end to 2022. Surround yourself with good people," she said. And the messages in response soon came flooding in.

While Gorka left a string of blue hearts underneath the post, Katya replied: "You are a gem." @x_amandamaden_x said: "Great photo lovely what a fabulous opportunity & u absolutely nailed it." @gabriellasasperella replied: "Good people around you and good energy really see you through the hard times. You’re amazing Helen, we were all backing you. Stay strong with your beautiful family."

@pamelaturner1210 commented: "Well said Helen." @hatch.carole wrote: "You deserve the very best Helen. Wishing you and your lovely little family every happiness from now on." @sunshine71686 shared: "Exciting times ahead for you which is thoroughly deserved." @music2bhappy added: "What an inspiration you have been to many , those that come into your life come in for a reason, all the best for 2023."
