BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans predict 'danger' for James Bye as they share confusion over EastEnders star's routine

Strictly Come Dancing fans have shared their confusion as they complained over James Bye's latest performance on the show. The remaining 11 couples took to the dancefloor with their Halloween-inspired routines on Saturday night (October 29) for the BBC One show's annual special.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman escaped the Halloween treatment and appeared to stand out due to their lack of scary costumes. But they still put on stunning displays. Claudia donned a mini black dress with a high neck, long sleeves and draped detailing. The 50-year-old did add a pop of colour, however, opting to don some neon green heels.

Tess, 53, also opted for a black velvet number with off-the-shoulder and ruched detailing. And adding a touch of Strictly glitz, the presenter donned a pair of sparkling, knee-high boots.

But fans of the BBC One show were given a surprise when the co-hosts introduced the judges who were almost unrecognisable. Motsi also looked sensational in a skeleton-inspired outfit with jewels covering one half of her face while Anton Du Beke went for a different costume, appearing as a long-haired pirate.

Meanwhile, head judge Shirley Ballas emerged as Addams Family patriarch, Gomez Addams. But it was Craig who stole the show when he strutted down the stairs as Morticia Addams, complete with a long black wig, matching gown with front split, and knee-high boots.

However, fans were soon left flocking to social media to complain when James took to the floor to give his all in his latest routine with dance partner Amy Dowden. Dressed as a beekeeper, the EastEnders star performed a lift he had not been able to nail during dress run for his Charleston to Bumble Bee by LaVern Baker – but placed bottom of the scoreboard.

Professional partner Amy, who was dressed as a bee, celebrated after the dance, saying: "I’m buzzing. Up until dress run, one of those lifts actually didn’t happen. He did such a good job." And after head judge Ballas got up to show the actor how to add more energy into his performance, James was able to joke and said: “There’s a place for you on EastEnders.” Meanwhile, Anton was booed for his comments.

Taking to Twitter, @SnowAndBeach said: "A great show so far BUT still confused why James danced to a bee theme?! I thought this was Halloween theme weekend?! #Strictly." @lisamarks wrote: "James’s bee costume nonsense is the same as Richie’s Lion King nonsense. He’s probably going home. #Strictly."

@jlb26_ tweeted: "Why tf is amy a bumblebee like could they not think of ANYTHING halloween inspired to give them as a theme. They’ve been completely screwed over with this #strictly." @Michell97251184 added: "#strictly I think the bee dance was the wrong choice it was very lame and not a Halloween theme it wasn't dramatic in anyway bad choice."

And its left them fearing for James. @mommab2km tweeted: "Unfortunately I think James will be in the bottom 2 with possibly Ellie S #Strictly." @sammitcheIl said: "James is gone i fear but cmon guys vote incase x #strictly @ChristineCarr added: "Terrible song and not Halloween theme but great lifts. Think that will put James in danger tonight… #Strictly."
