BBC pundit urges Ruben Loftus-Cheek to make big career call after Watford performance

BBC pundit Garth Crooks has urged Ruben Loftus-Cheek to make a big career call after his strong performance in Chelsea's 3-0 victory over Watford on Sunday.

Crooks named him in his team of the week after he came on as an eighth minute substitute for the injured N'Golo Kante, scoring the opening goal and showing once again why he's started to nail down the third midfielder spot in Maurizio Sarri's midfield.

He's also a firm fan favourite having come through the Academy at Chelsea and now with a back injury seemingly behind him, Loftus-Cheek is well on his way to becoming a regular at the club.

However, Crooks has suggested that since returning from his loan spell at Crystal Palace in the summer, Loftus-Cheek has lost all the momentum he gained in south London and believes he has a big decision to make about his future at Chelsea.

Speaking in his BBC Team of the Week column, Crooks said: "This is a lad I thought was better off staying at Crystal Palace on loan, playing every week and continuing his international development as a consequence of playing regularly. However the player decided to return to Chelsea - or more to the point, the club insisted he returned.

"Immediately his game time dropped, he lost all the momentum he gained from his time at Palace and he struggled to be the star his performances suggest he might be.

"It's time Ruben Loftus-Cheek made some serious decisions about his career at Chelsea. The lad can play, as was clearly evident against Watford."
