George Alagiah has returned to the BBC after recovering from cancer.
Alagiah, the presenter of BBC One's News at Six and GMT on BBC World News, was diagnosed with bowel cancer, which had spread to his liver and lymph nodes, in April 2014.
Alagiah announced that his treatment was over last week and that he was clear of cancer. He returned to TV screens on Tuesday evening after an 18 month break, where he was welcomed back by fellow presenter Huw Edwards.
“I just want to say, it’s good to be back with you,” Alagiah told viewers after presenting the News at Six.
Alagiah joined the BBC in 1989 as a leading foreign correspondent before moving into presenting. He made an OBE in the 2008 New Year’s Honours.
