BBC Line of Duty star Vicky McClure teases fans with series 7 update

Line of Duty star Vicky McClure has spoken out about the possibility of a new series of the hit BBC police drama.

Since the final episode of the series came out in May 2021, Line of Duty fans have been eager for another series after the true identity of H was revealed.

Creator Jed Mercurio has not confirmed a new series and told BBC Breakfast last year that there were no plans in place for another series.

However the cast have been clear that they would be up for another go in AC12.

Vicky McClure, who played Kate Fleming, in Line of Duty has now given a new update on the future of the show.

In an interview with The Guardian, the actor was quizzed on whether or not fans can expect a new series.

Vicky responded: "I don't know! I don't know, there's no word of it.

"I think we've all been really honest and said should that happen, we're all game.

"I'll just stick with the guys. I think when it comes to a close, it will be a natural close for us all."

This comes after Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar also hinted at another series at the National TV Award show back in September.

During his speech at the NTA's, Martin said: "This means so much, like we started as a wee show on Wednesday night on BBC Two and now we're the biggest drama on TV and it's all because of the fans, we owe everything to you."

He added: "We genuinely don't take this for granted and who knows, maybe we'll be back again."

This was later echoed by Adrian Dunbar who plays Hastings, in a video call as he was unable to make the event.

He said: "As Martin said, who knows, we might be back."
