BBC EastEnders fans horrified by 'creepy' and 'cringe' couple

Soap fans are used to seeing odd romantic pairings, but a new couple in EastEnders has not gone down well with some.

Max Branning, played by Jake Wood, 47, and Ruby Allen, played by Louisa Lytton, 30, slept together in a surprise twist that upset his former flame, and her best friend, Stacey Fowler.

But the new lovers has left viewers confused and unsettled by their scenes.

One tweeted: "I used to rate Max's game but now he's just some cringy old man."

Another said: "Gawd sex mad Ruby havin’ relations with Max Branning! That man’s ‘ad more women than you can count!"

A third said: "Max and Ruby creep me out."

A fourth said: "Ruby and Max. How very gross."

And a number of people posted gifs of people being sick and the classic of Phoebe from Friends saying "my eyes".

In tonight's episode we was Max and Ruby go on a double date with Stacey and Martin.

While Stacey put a brave face on things at first, she quickly let it be known that she did not trust Max and told Ruby to end things.

*EastEnders is on BBC One, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, or available on BBC iPlayer
