Darius Bazley injury update
The injury designation to Oklahoma City Thunder power forward Darius Bazley (left shoulder contusion) changed in the latest update on Thursday from head coach Mark Daigneault.
Daigneault described the second-year player’s condition as “week-to-week.”
“It’s in an area on his shooting side where his muscles around his shoulder blade are pretty lit-up. It just makes him not very functional with the pain he’s experiencing,” Daigneault said. “It’s going to be a little longer of a timeline, I think, than the day-to-day that we initially did.”
That is the most detailed description the team had provided of the injury, and as Daigneault noted, a change from the previous “day-to-day” designation.
Bazley has missed all four games since the All-Star break and will not play on Thursday against the Hawks.
George Hill update
Point guard George Hill (thumb) is still in a cast due to thumb surgery he underwent near the end of January.
At the beginning of March, Daigneault said his timeline in a hard cast would be one to two weeks. At that point, it set the expectation for removal around March 15.
“Hill’s still in a cast, but we’re being cautious with him,” Daigneault said, emphasizing that the veteran guard continues to work out hard and stay in shape.
He will not play on Thursday.
Hill is among the candidates to be moved at the March 25 trade deadline. After Thursday, Oklahoma City will only have three more games before that day: Sunday, Monday and Wednesday.
With that timeline, it’s not inconceivable that Hill has played his final game in a Thunder uniform, should Oklahoma City trade him by this deadline.
