Bayern Munich complete £68m Chelsea transfer hijacking as Thomas Tuchel faces Declan Rice risk

The latest Chelsea transfer stories brought to you by football.london on Monday, July 18.

Bayern complete Chelsea hijacking

Bayern Munich are set to complete the signing of Chelsea transfer target Matthijs de Ligt, according to Fabrizio Romano. It's said that the German giants reached a verbal agreement with Juventus last night and the two clubs have been in direct contact for some time.

The Old Lady accepted a bid from Bayern which could amount to as much as €80million (£68 million) once add-ons are taken into account. De Ligt, who was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, will reportedly pen a five-year deal at the Allianz Arena.

football.london understand that the Blues held talks with Juventus for the defender. But, by Bayern throwing their hat in the ring, Chelsea were blown out of the water and have since set their sights elsewhere.

Colwill demand

Thomas Tuchel has been dealt a huge dilemma regarding the future of Levi Colwill as Chelsea dig deeper into the summer transfer window. The 19-year-old has been heavily linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge following an impressive loan spell at Huddersfield Town last season.

And, according to The Athletic, if Chelsea sign one more defender this summer then the youngster will look to leave Stamford Bridge before the window slams shut. Todd Boehly has already welcomed Kalidou Koulibaly to the club and the Blues continue to be linked with Jules Kounde and Presnel Kimpembe.

Broja dilemma creates Rice risk

Chelsea could lose leverage in the race to sign Declan Rice with West Ham up against growing competition for the signing of Armando Broja. The 20-year-old striker has been heavily linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge this summer following an impressive loan spell at Southampton last season.

football.london understand that the striker will be looked at by the Blues boss in pre-season amid strong interest from David Moyes. It's also understood that Everton are eager to sign Broja, among several top-flight European clubs too.

One of whom, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, is Lazio. It's believed that Maurizio Sarri's side are in talks with Chelsea regarding Broja, who has been valued at £57.8million.

And, while it'd mean that the west Londoners can cash-in on the greatly coveted striker without directly bolstering a rival side, Boehly would be losing leverage in any potential deal for Declan Rice in the future.
