"Battlefield" is getting a live-action movie adaptation, and it has been recently reported that two big names in Hollywood are attached to the project, including Michael B. Jordan and a "Mission: Impossible" director.
The duo is joining forces to develop the first-ever "Battlefield" movie adaptation after seeing false starts and rug pulls affecting the development of the project.
'Battlefield' Movie Adaptation Reportedly Happening
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, a "Battlefield" adaptation is finally happening again, and it will be a movie adaptation. The previous efforts centered on two reported "false starts" that were both television series adaptations, said ComicBook Gaming.
The latest report said that the "Battlefield" movie adaptation is still being pitched to studios, and it is speculated that a bidding war will take place.
It was also speculated that the likes of Apple or Sony would be part of the bidding war for the "Battlefield" movie adaptation. The project will reportedly prioritize a theatrical place.
Moreover, the report also said that the film adaptation will require a massive budget to develop.
Michael B. Jordan, 'Mission: Impossible' Director Attached to 'Battlefield'
As further discussed by The Hollywood Reporter, there are already two massive Hollywood names attached to the project, and this includes Academy Award winner Michael B. Jordan, as well as the recent director of "Mission: Impossible" films, Christopher McQuarrie.
The report said that McQuarrie will write, direct, and produce the movie adaptation, with Jordan set to also have a producer role. Jordan may also "possibly" star in it.
Electronic Arts' "Battlefield" has recently thrived in the market, with the successful release of "Battlefield 6" leading the charge for the franchise.
There were talks about the game's movie adaptation being thrown around before, but this recent report claims that the project is now more concrete.
