Operation Augur mode release date in Battlefield 6

Operation Augur arrives as part of the Battlefield 6 Season 2 Hunter/Prey update, launching on April 14 and marking the final phase of the season. The mode is immediately available alongside the update, giving players a new experience as the season wraps up.
Set during the ongoing War of 2027, Operation Augur drops players into a decisive conflict where NATO attempts to reclaim the Hagental Base and its satellite defense network from Pax Armata forces.
How Operation Augur works in BF6
Operation Augur is a 48-player, multi-map experience that blends elements of Breakthrough with the scale and structure of classic Operations. The mode plays out as a sector-by-sector push, with NATO acting as the attacking force tasked with capturing objectives, while Pax Armata defends and looks to drain enemy resources and hold key positions.

Unlike standard Breakthrough, Operation Augur spans two maps, Contaminated and Hagental Base, across nine total sectors. The first stage, Contaminated, features a wide, open battlefield with five sectors, encouraging vehicle combat, destructible environments, and long-range engagements. The second stage, Hagental Base, transitions into a tighter, indoor-focused setting with four sectors, emphasizing close-quarters combat, corridor control, and aggressive flanking.
Several mechanics set the mode apart. Instead of a single shared life pool, attackers are given three Battalions, each acting as a reserve of lives. When one Battalion is depleted, reinforcements arrive at the furthest captured sector, but losing all three results in failure.
Spawning is also more restrictive in Operation Augur mode, as players can’t respawn on captured objectives and must rely on squadmates, vehicles, or deployable spawn beacons.

Dynamic events make the mode more intense, particularly in Contaminated where captured sectors trigger VL-7 Smoke strike events, which launch non-lethal, psychoactive gas that creates a disorienting, low-visibility environment, requiring players to use gas masks to avoid hallucinations and manage filters to survive.
In order to win, NATO needs to capture all nine sectors, while Pax Armata has to eliminate all three attacking Battalions.
BF6 Operation Augur rewards
Operation Augur also ties directly into the BF6 Season 2 progression through the Hunter/Prey Bonus Path. By playing the mode, you can progress through the Bonus Path, unlock free rewards, and earn additional items tied to the season’s content.
One of the standout rewards is the Serrated Blade, a new melee weapon that can be obtained through the progression system. More details on the Bonus Path, including all free rewards and other unlockable items, are expected to be revealed on the Hunter/Prey launch day and in the period that follows.
