Battle of the former Browns prospects in the Arena Football League

We are now entering Week 5 of the Arena Football League season and we already covered all of the former Cleveland Browns on the opening-day rosters, but there have actually been two more added and they will be facing off against each other this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus Destroyers (0-4) will be taking on the defending Arena Bowl champion Washington Valor (2-2).

The battle within the war starts with newly acquired offensive tackle Kevin Bowen, who many are expecting to start his first game as a Destroyer this Saturday. Browns fans may remember Bowen after his brief stint at training camp. Cleveland signed Bowen in July and released him in August, and he landed in Columbus with the local arena team.

Bowen will be tasked with blocking another Trenton Thompson, who many Cleveland fans will remember as he was a surprising undrafted addition after he declared early from Georgia. Thompson had a phenomenal career at Georgia but tested extremely poorly and wound up going undrafted. The Browns immediately picked up the defensive tackle but wound up cutting him in July.

He rebounded nicely in the Alliance of American Football with the Arizona Hotshots but failed to earn another shot in the NFL. At only 22 years old, it is likely Thompson will get another shot in the NFL if he can dominate in the AFL.
