GLASGOW is set to be transformed once again into Gotham City as filming for the latest Batman movie gets underway.
Filming for The Batman: Part II will take place in a number of locations around the city in August, focusing mainly around the Kingston Bridge on North Street and Newton Street.
Directed by Matt Reeves, the latest instalment in the Batman franchise sees the return of Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader, alongside Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
The cast also includes Scarlett Johansson, Jayme Lawson and Charles Dance.
It is unclear whether any of the film's stars will be on set in Glasgow at the time of filming.
The film is the follow-up to Reeves’ 2022 film The Batman, which took more than $772 million at the global box office.
It is scheduled to be released in cinemas on February 18, 2028.
Glasgow has doubled as the fictional Gotham City a number of times previously, including in Christopher Nolan’s 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises, The Batman (2022) and The Flash (2023).
The city was also recently transformed into New York for the latest film in the Spider-Man franchise, which released in cinemas on Wednesday, and has also been used for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and The Running Man.
More than 20 streets in Glasgow face disruption during August and September, but not all of the closures are for The Batman: Part II.
A number of other films and TV programmes are also shooting in Glasgow at the same time, with some streets having restrictions in place for almost the entire month.
This means that pedestrian movements will be prohibited on affected streets, while all vehicles – with the exception of emergency vehicles – will also be restricted.
