Baseball bat thug speeds off on electric bike after smashing car

A baseball bat wielding thug sped away on an electric bike after smashing up a car on someone's drive.

Merseyside Police confirmed that at 11.15pm officers were called out to reports of a man smashing a black Volkswagen Golf that was parked on Agnes Road, Tranmere.

The man is believed to have fled the scene on an electric bike at a 'high speed' following the incident.

One witness took to social media to ask: "Anyone know what's going on on the corner of Elm Road, Tranmere right now? At least three police cars!"

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for information following a report of criminal damage in Tranmere last night, Tuesday 13 April.

"At around 11.15pm, residents on Agnes Road reported being disturbed by an unknown offender who was smashing up their black Volkswagen Golf with a bat when it was parked outside.

"The suspect is described as male, wearing dark clothing, and was seen riding an electric bike along Agnes Road at speed after the incident.

"An investigation is now underway, and CCTV and witness enquires are ongoing."

Community Policing Inspector Tom Welch said: “This was a shocking attack which left the victims distressed and shaken.

"If you saw the incident or have any dash cam or CCTV footage from the Agnes Road area last night, you may have captured the offender - so please contact us directly or anonymously, and we will take action.”
