Barcelona vs Real Madrid: Barca to mark Chinese New Year with Mandarin shirt names for El Clasico

Barcelona are seeing in the Chinese New Year in style with their star players set to wear unique shirts for tonight's Copa del Rey clash against Real Madrid.

Tuesday, 5 February marked the start of the new year on the traditional Chinese calendar, with the Spring Festival - the most important of the year - marking beginning of the Year of the Pig.

Barca face a huge Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg clash against El Clasico rivals Real Madrid at the Camp Nou tonight, with the Blaugrana seeking to defend a trophy they have won for the past four seasons in a row.

When Barca take to the pitch against their famous rivals tonight, they will do so with a message for their Mandarin-speaking supporters.

Barca announced on Monday that their shirts for the Clasico clash will feature Chinese characters below the regular player names, marking the first time the club has added new characters to the back of the jersey.

One cheeky Barca fan replied to Barca's tweet by warning Real Madrid supporters: "How do you write 5-1 in Chinese?"
