Barcelona star Riqui Puig admits Man City transfer ambition

Riqui Puig would play for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola if he ever left Barcelona.

The Barca midfielder, who turns 22 next month and has recently signed a two-year contract extension at the Nou Camp, has made 39 senior appearances.

Puig made most of his appearances last season in a breakthrough year, as he fought to make an impact under Ronald Koeman. Now, as he prepares to kick on, Puig has been asked about his future.

Barcelona are under pressure to sell a number of fringe players and high earners to reduce the wage bill, while they are reportedly unable to register any new signings including former City players Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia until that issue is resolved.

So maybe that is why Puig was asked about his future during the club's pre-season training camp in Andorra, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that the Spanish under-21 international was asked which club he would play at if he ever left Barcelona.

He replied: "Because of the style of play and because he has a coach who understands football like I do, Manchester City."

However, before fans get excited, Puig confirmed he has no intention to leave by his own accord, adding: "but at the moment I'm very well in Barcelona and at Barca, and I have no plans to leave."
