Santos' Marcos Leonardo is top U-20 striker, as per CIES research
NEW DELHI: Who are the world's most promising young footballers? Switzerland-based CIES Football observatory has come up with a ranking of the finest U-20 players after checking out 75 leagues in the world.
The research group used the "experience capital" method to arrive at its findings. The method takes "into account the minutes played in official games during the last 365 days, the sporting level of the matches and the results.
"The experience capital gained by a player is "related to the average measured for players of the same age and position" which helps produce a relative score.
The highest overall score was re-corded for Barcelona's prodigy and central midfielder Gavi, whose relative experience capital was 4.37 times higher than the average measured for players of the same age and position.
England's Jude Bellingham, who plays for Borussia Dortmund, finished with 3.66, the second highest score among the top 200 players. He plays from the same position as Gavi.
