Barcelona eyeing stunning £100m Marcus Rashford transfer on eve of Man Utd second leg

Barcelona want to sign Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford this summer in a stunning £100million deal.

Barca, who hold a 1-0 lead over United going into Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg, have identified England striker Rashford their top transfer target this summer.

Rashford, who has one year left on his current contract, with United holding an option to extend for a further 12 months, has yet to agree a new deal, despite talks over several months.

Barca are hoping to take advantage of United's failure to agree a new deal with Rashford and make a move for him this summer, with their arch rivals Real Madrid also keen on the 21-year-old forward.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's five-word response to question on Philippe Coutinho transfer

United have offered Rashford a deal worth up to £300,000-a-week and will rebuff any attempts to prise him away from them, with newly-appointed permanent boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeing him as a key part of his future plans.

That will not deter Barca, who will have to offload one of their big names this summer to fund their spending, with former Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho likely to be offloaded this summer to enable coach Ernesto Valverde to strengthen his squad.

Solskjaer returns to the scene of his most famous night as a player in the Nou Camp where he scored the winner as United dramatically beat Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final.

When asked how it would feel to go back, he said: "Many emotions, it’s a fantastic memory for me. The last time I was on the pitch was the only time.

"I brought my son to watch El Clasico in 2016 and I was here 10 days ago to watch them. I don’t look back on that night too often, I’m just looking forward to seeing if we can play better against Barcelona ."
