Josep Maria Bartomeu, the Barcelona president, is confident that Neymar will sign a contract extension to stay at Camp Nou despite interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the Brazil forward.

United and PSG have both been linked with a move for the Neymar, who has two years left on his contract. But Bartomeu insisted on Thursday that the forward, 24, has committed his future to the Spanish champions and will sign a five-year deal.

“Neymar is not going to go from Barça, he is not going to leave,” Bartomeu said.

“Therefore, I do not know if [it will be] tomorrow or the day afterwards but Neymar is going to continue for five seasons. It’s normal that other clubs are interested in him.

“I will make this clear – Neymar has never told us that he wants to leave. The club’s lawyers and Neymar’s lawyers will be finalising the renewal and I hope that it will be closed in the next few days.”
