Bannockburn House restoration work continues amid coronavirus pandemic

Volunteers and contractors have been continuing work to restore A-listed Bannockburn House during the pandemic.

The work on the late 17th century mansion, in line with government guidance and safety, has included the building of a toilet block, a new fire alarm system, a water supply and fencing.

In the garden the orchard has been planted along with a pathway, compost areas established, tree felling, and the completion of raised beds.

A bee-keeping area is also being established in the grounds and a group of volunteers have also been taking part in bee-keeping training.

Bannockburn House Trust is involved in the Government’s Kickstarter employability programme.

The trust will be hosting two placements, advertised in the summer and lasting six months, fully paid for by the Government.

To find out about the trust’s work there will be regular ‘Bannockburn Blethers’ on Zoom beginning this week.

The first is today (Wed) at noon, hosted by a Bannockburn House volunteer and involving members of the community.

The Zoom link is available on the Bannockburn House Facebook Page.

Anyone interested in getting involved in the work of the trust by becoming a trustee is asked to contact the secretary on BHTrust17@outlook.com.

Residents of Bannockburn are particularly welcome.

To keep in touch with Bannockburn House Trust activities, up to date information is available on both the Facebook page and the website.
