Bamba Dieng transfer latest as Celtic 'target' gets ominous message from Marseille chief

Celtic-linked Bamba Dieng was left out of Marseille's weekend squad and now he's received yet more indication he has no future at the club. The 22-year-old Senegalese forward has been linked with a number of clubs this summer including the Scottish Premiership champions, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Leeds United and West Ham United.

Marseille this week completed the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Inter to further bloat a squad that is already top heavy in attacking options. OM have nine attacking players on their books to fill just three positions on the forward line.

And now club chief Pablo Longoria has stated they only "need two in each position" - one first choice and one for backup. Given Dieng's current standing within the squad, his chances of remaining with the Ligue 1 side appear to be shrinking further. Sky Sports reported earlier this week he already had concerns over the impending the arrival of Sanchez.

Meanwhile, reports of a move to Chelsea for Josip Juranovic have been given short shrift in his native Croatia. It was claimed on Wednesday that Thomas Tuchel is considering the Celtic star as an option to add depth at right-back.

But journalist Ižak Ante Sučić, who first broke news of the defender's move to Glasgow, has shut down the prospect of him leaving for London before the deadline. Manchester United were also claimed to hold an interest in the 26-year-old Croatia international.
