Baltimore Orioles Honor Bridge Collapse Victims In Season Opener

Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore

The Baltimore Orioles paid tribute to the victims of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in a solemn ceremony before their season opening game against the Los Angeles Angels at Oriole Park on Thursday.

During the pre-game proceedings, the Orioles observed a moment of silence to honor the victims, first responders, and all those affected by the tragic incident. Fans, players, and other attendees were seen bowing their heads with hats off in a brief moment of reflection.

Adding to the emotional atmosphere, the Morgan State University Choir delivered a moving rendition of the national anthem. As the choir sang, the Orioles lowered an American flag from the batter's eye section of the stadium, symbolizing unity and remembrance.

Notably, the flag that was lowered is a replica of the one that flew over Fort McHenry when Francis Scott Key penned the 'Star-Spangled Banner,' adding a historical significance to the tribute.

In response to the tragedy, a previously scheduled workout and rally that was set to take place on Tuesday was canceled as a mark of respect and solidarity with the victims and their families.
