Ballymena crash leaves three in Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital

Three people have been taken to hospital following a serious two-vehicle crash in Ballymena .

Northern Ireland Ambulance Service rallied four crews alongside the charity helicopter.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the area.

A spokesperson said on Friday: "Police are advising motorists to avoid the Crankill Road, Ballymena this evening following a serious two vehicle road traffic collision.

"Motorists should seek alternative main routes for their journey."

A NIAS spokesperson said they were called at 6.45pm following a two vehicle RTC.

They added: "We dispatched four emergency crews and the Charity Air Ambulance was also tasked.

"Three people were taken to Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital. All were taken by road ambulance."

The road was reopened around 4am on Saturday morning.
