Balloon tribute for young Hamilton teen who tragically died in Mugdock Country Park

Friends and family will gather tonight in memory of a teen who tragically died in Mugdock Country Park last week.

Hamilton teenager Jordan Goodwin was enjoying a day out at Mugdock Country Park in Milngavie with pals when tragedy struck and he died after getting into difficulty in the water.

The death of the 18-year-old, who was affectionately known as 'wee Ginge', has left his close knit family and group of friends devastated, with many describing him as "one in a million."

They will meet next to St Peter's/Neilsland Primary School on Highstonehall Road tonight to release blue and white balloons as a tribute to the Rangers fan.

Heartbroken sister Shanice told Lanarkshire Live: "We are doing a balloon release on Monday night in memory of Jordan.

"He was so well loved by everyone and this is our way of remembering him a week on from his tragic death.

"Jordan was always playing pranks on us all - hitting us with eggs, soaking us with water and friendly play fighting with all us siblings - he was the life and soul of the party, a complete wind up to his two nephews and his baby niece.

"He adored all three of them so much and his little brother Daniel was his absolute life. He just loved him.

"He literally was just the best son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and cousin our family could have wished for. He would have done anything for anyone and always with a cheeky wee smirk on his face.

"Anyone is welcome to come and help us remember our boy - our wee Ginge - on Monday night with blue and white balloons, 7pm sharp at the grass area on Highstonehall Road, Laighstonehall."

"Thank you all in advance."

A Crowdfunding page set up to help his family at this sad time has already raised nearly £4,000. You can donate online here.
