Bake Off fans accuse show of being 'fixed' ahead of 'Free-from week' after Freya's exit

Great British Bake Off has been accused of being ‘fixed’ by angry fans after the Channel 4 show announced a free-from week after vegan Freya Cox was eliminated.

Freya, who was the first ever vegan baker on the show, stole the hearts of viewers, but she was sadly voted off the show during week five.

The 19-year-old was the first Bake Off contestant in the show’s history to use only vegan friendly or plant-based ingredients, but during bread week, the ambitious teen was forced to use dairy products after her bread failed to rise.

Following Freya’s exit, fans have accused Bake Off bosses of ‘fixing’ the show after the end of the last episode teased an entirely ‘free-from week’ after her exit.

The announcement left Channel 4 fans outraged, as they hit out at producers for dedicating an entire week to Freya’s beliefs, when she was forced to go against them while on the show when she was forced to use dairy products.

Fans said the free-from week had ‘Freya written all over it’ as they hit out at the new theme.

“Free-from week? Sorry, this has Freya written all over it. Why do it once she’s been eliminated. So unfair,” complained one Bake Off viewer on Twitter.

“A vegan week the minute Freya leaves? Well, that’s a slap in the face,” another complained.

“The minute Freya leaves they have a vegan week? Fixed,” someone else insisted.

“Quarter finals next week!!! VEGAN???? Nahhhh FREYA ROBBED! #GBBO,” another agreed.

Meanwhile, another Bake Off fan tweeted: “It’s a bit suspicious that Freya is out before they introduce an entire free-from week. Just seems wrong.”

Freya left the tent during the shows first ever German week in an emotional elimination that left both her and viewers at home in floods of tears.

This week’s episode saw Jurgen regain his star baker status and George became the latest baker to be booted off the show during a close decision between him and Liverpool girl Lizzie.

The Mirror has reached out to a Channel 4 spokesperson for comment on this story.

The Great British Bake Off continues Tuesday on Channel 4 at 8pm.
