Bahraini King, UAE President Attend Joint Military Anti-Terrorism Exercise

Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Emirati President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended on Thursday the final stage of the joint Emirati-Bahraini military anti-terrorism exercise, titled “Jelmoud 3.”

Held in Manama, the three-day exercise involved the participation of the UAE Armed Forces and the Royal Guard, a unit of the Bahrain Defense Force, as part of the historic brotherly cooperation between the two countries.

“The challenges facing the region today require rallying ranks and constant alertness,” the Bahraini King said, welcoming the participants from the UAE Armed Forces.

King Khalifa praised firmness in countering terrorism and commended the solid historic relations and cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

For his part, the Emirati President expressed happiness over attending the exercise which showcased the skill and competence of the participants.

He wished Bahrain and the UAE constant security and further growth and prosperity.

At the outset of the drill, the two countries signed a memorandum of Understanding on military cooperation to counter terrorism.

The MoU was inked by Bahraini Major General Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the UAE Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Isa Saif bin Ablan Al-Mazroui.

The National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander and director of the exercise, Major General Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, praised the heroic epics of the Bahraini, Emirati and Saudi soldiers in fighting the terrorist groups and defending the religion, the land and the Arabian identity of the region.

He also lauded the ongoing efforts of the Arab Coalition Forces to deter terrorism with all firmness and strength.

“This exercise is in the interest of security, stability and peace in the region, and it strengthens plans to confront the dangers facing our Arab countries,” the Bahraini Major General stressed.

"Jelmoud 3" emphasized on army cohesion, including bonding of army soldiers for sustaining their will and commitment to the unit, mission accomplishments of military principles, concepts, and joint procedures between the BDF Royal Guard and the UAE Armed Forces Presidential Guard (UAE-PG).
