A new fire broke out on Thursday at dawn in a departure hall inside Baghdad International Airport, without causing any casualties.

Civil defense forces have put out the fire, the second in three days in a country that suffers from a dilapidated infrastructure.

The fire broke out at dawn on the ground floor of the airport's VIP hall, hitting several travel offices, according to an official statement issued by the Civil Defense Directorate.

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani visited the airport to follow up on the investigation and determine the fire's cause. He dismissed the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority and the Director of Baghdad International Airport.

Civil defense teams had to break the locks to enter the burning offices to put them out without reporting any casualties.

The civil defense requested an investigation into the incident and summoned a forensic expert for samples and to determine the causes of the fire.

On Tuesday, three people were lightly hurt when a brief fire broke out at Baghdad's international airport, but flights were unaffected.

Baghdad International Airport has not undergone any significant renovations since its opening during the era of the late President Saddam Hussein.
