Bafta winner Barry Keoghan crashes Alison Hammond's This Morning interview

Best Supporting Actor Bafta winner Barry Keoghan is on a high after his crowd and critic-pleasing turn opposite Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson in Banshees of Inisherin. The 30-year-old award-winner made another crowd-pleasing apearance as he gatecrashed Alison Hammond's post-ceremony This Morning interview.

The Irishman has become a real fan favourite with his portrayal of Dominic in the Martin McDonagh film, for which he's also nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award. The star is deserved flavour of the month and showed his fun side as he popped up in the back of Alison's - who hosted the awards show with Richard E Grant - interview as she filled in Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on her glitzy job the evening before.

As the Birmingham-born host told of the slip-up she had on stage as the Baftas started, new dad Barry surprisingly appeared behind her waving and smiling. The pair had chatted backstage on the BBC-aired ceremony after the Dublin star had picked up his award.

Revealing they were both at the airport waiting for a flight to Ireland, Alison went on to say: "What an amazing winner, Barry's had such a tough life and he's gone on to win this award."

The Dublin-born star's backstory is well-documented, but Barry's early start was not an easy one. 13 foster homes after losing his mother to heroin addiction as a teen, he got into acting after seeing a note in a shop window.

Barry said after collecting his award: “It encourages the arts at home and we are an island of storytelling and great actors and poets and writers. And this helps the industry massively at home and encourages people to send the scripts in and go for what they want to do.”

He added that he plans to celebrate his win with his son by ordering room service after the ceremony and that he was going to keep the award under a picture of his mother.

Alison continued on This Morning to reminisce over her first Baftas gig, adding: "Honestly I had an amazing time. There's a moment where Catherine Zeta-Jones was like 'Alison, Alison' and I thought is that Catherine Zeta-Jones calling me. What is going on. I was in a dream world."
