'Baffling' - Manchester United fans react after Mason Greenwood's England snub

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has been left out of the England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches and the club's fans aren't happy.

The Three Lions visit Andorra on October 9 before welcoming Hungary to Wembley on October 12.

Gareth Southgate's team sit top of Group I, having won five and drawn one of their six fixtures so far. During the last break they were winners over Hungary and San Marino, before being held to a 1-1 draw by Poland.

While Southgate has an array of attacking quality to call upon, the continued decision to omit Greenwood will be a surprise to some supporters.

Although the forward has not been at his best in recent games, he has still been a regular for United and he started the Premier League campaign with three goals in as many outings.

And United supporters were surprised to see the 19-year-old not make the cut as a result. Here's what they said:

Southgate insisted the decision not to include Greenwood and other young players like Jude Bellingham is because they are trying to protect their development.

"We have to remember these lads are still physically growing...we have to be really careful how we handle them," he said. "

We don't want to overload them."

It was reported that United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has requested to Southgate that Greenwood be kept out of the international side for a while, as he wants the teenager to be reintegrated back into the Three Lions setup slowly.

Greenwood has not played for England since he and Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden were sent home due to breaching Covid-19 regulations in Iceland in September last year.
