BENGALURU: At least four flights scheduled to land at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Friday evening were diverted to Chennai because of bad weather.
Airport sources said rain and ground winds led to the Air Traffic Control diverting the flights. Vistara’s UK 756 from Guwahati to Bengaluru, scheduled to land around 8pm, was diverted to Chennai, while another flight from the carrier, UK 817 from Delhi to Bengaluru, landed in the Tamil Nadu capital at 8.30pm. SpiceJet flight SG 465 from Mumbai to Bengaluru and IndiGo flight 6E 6221 from Mumbai to Bengaluru were also diverted to Chennai because of rain and flight congestion. The situation returned to normalcy after 10pm and regular flight operations resumed, sources said.
