Baby handed in to gardai after being found alone in buggy in Dublin

A baby found alone in a buggy was handed in to gardai in Dublin.

The child, believed to be a few months old, was discovered by a woman walking by near the Mater Hospital shortly before 10pm on Monday night. The woman waited for around an hour for a parent or a guardian to return but in vain.

She brought the child to Mountjoy Garda Station when nobody come to collect the baby. The child was then handed to the gardai.

A garda spokesperson told Q102.ie: "Gardai attended the scene of an incident involving an infant child in the Mountjoy area on Monday night. Owing to the sensitive nature of this incident there is no further information available at this time."
