BA shares feel the chill

Shares in British Airways slipped 4% today as it cancelled 65 flights because of the wintry weather.

The heavy snowfall across the country has caused widespread disruption to air, rail and bus services.

Heathrow Airport closed its northern runway and all flights from Terminal 5 were cancelled.

London City, Luton and Southampton airports also closed, while significant delays were reported elsewhere.

Transport stocks were caught up in the wider turmoil in the stock market that saw the FTSE 100 down more than 60 points at midday.

BA shares were down 4.6p to 115.5p.

Among the rail and bus groups, FirstGroup dropped 4.75p to 268p and National Express slipped 3p to 323.25p.
