B&M shoppers in stitches over awkward spelling mistake on Christmas mug

Shoppers looking for festive gifts this year have been quick to pounce on an embarrassing spelling mistake on a B&M Christmas mug.

Certainly the store have been able to take the stress out of Christmas shopping for a while as many people have taken to social media to have a laugh at the error.

Hunting for a cut-price present, one Reddit user spotted the amusing typo in one of the B&M stores.

Despite the mug's appealing gold writing and grey background, it unfortunately had a tiny error.

The star sign "Pisces" was spelt wrong - reading "Pices" instead - as any astrology enthusiast would be quick to notice.

Taking to Reddit to share the blunder, the original poster titled the gaffe: “Take a trip to your local B&M for your 'Pices' mug.”

Tickled by the spelling blunder, people fled to the comments to share their thoughts, reports the Daily Star.

One person commented: “LOL I might get this for my mom. She's a Pisces and a teacher so it will doubly annoy her.”

Another user remarked: “Got my eye on that Sagittaring mug next to it.”

A third user joked: “Have they got one for Vingos?”

And, someone else decided to join in on the joke, commenting: “Did they have any Capricom?”

A B&M spokesperson told the Daily Star: “We’re aware of a handful of mugs with a spelling error made by our supplier.”

It comes as some shoppers fear whether they will be able to get their Christmas gifts this year at all due to shortages brought by Brexit and a lack of lorry drivers.

There have been widespread reports of shortages from everything from turkeys to toys but now it seems that there are a lack even of Santas and elves for Christmas grottoes.

Stats show the share of searches for seasonal roles by jobseekers was down 27% compared with the same time in 2019 and 33% below its 2018 level.

The effects of Brexit, the pandemic and a glut of seasonal vacancies have pushed the number of available jobs to 1.1million – a record high and an increase on the 800,000 vacancies pre-pandemic and Brexit.
