Ayush Badoni slams unbeaten fifty, takes LSG to 167/7 after Kuldeep Yadav sizzles with three-wicket haul

NEW DELHI: Ayush Badoni played a pivotal role in Lucknow Super Giants' recovery, smashing a quick-fire unbeaten half-century to help them post a respectable total of 167/7 against Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 match in Lucknow on Friday.

Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball for Delhi, claiming three wickets without conceding a boundary in his four overs.

Making a comeback after missing three matches due to injury, Kuldeep made an immediate impact by dismissing the likes of KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Nicholas Pooran.

Lucknow Super Giants found themselves in trouble at 94/7, with Khaleel Ahmed, Ishant Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar also chipping in with wickets.

However, Ayush Badoni spearheaded a remarkable late innings recovery, smashing five boundaries and a six in his unbeaten knock, while also forming a crucial 73-run partnership with Arshad Khan (20 off 16 balls).

LSG’s innings got off to a shaky start, with Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal falling early to Khaleel Ahmed. Despite a brief flourish from skipper KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav's introduction into the attack triggered a collapse in the batting lineup.

Kuldeep's deceptive spin accounted for key wickets, including Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran. His exceptional spell further saw the dismissal of KL Rahul, leaving LSG reeling.

Delhi Capitals' bowlers maintained tight control over the proceedings, with Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar also making crucial contributions with the ball.

LSG struggled to find boundaries as Delhi's bowlers applied pressure, ultimately limiting them to a challenging but manageable total.
