Ayrshire police say car torched in driveway could have had 'catastrophic' consequences

A car was torched in the driveway of a house in an incident police say could have had 'catastrophic' consequences.

Firebugs struck in Boydston Road, Ardrossan on Monday, November 9 between 7.45pm and 8pm.

Nobody was injured in the incident but the vehicle - which was extinguished by the Fire and Rescue Service - was damaged.

Detective Sergeant Stephen McCulloch at Saltcoats CID said: “This was an extremely reckless act and the consequences could have been catastrophic had the fire spread.

"I would ask anyone who may have any information which might help us catch those responsible to call us on 101, quoting the reference number 3438 of 9 November 2020."
