Ayrshire RaceRunning star Kayleigh Haggo is waiting anxiously for confirmation that she’s broken yet another world record.
The GB star made the short trip to Kilmarnock at the weekend to take part in the 4J studios combined events championships and 4J studios masters championships.
On the day, Kayleigh, from Maybole, contested the RR2 200m event at the Ayrshire Athletics Arena and she crossed the finishing line in a time of 37.25 seconds.
And the time is expected to be confirmed as a new world record for the distance – subject to the ratification process.
Delighted Kayleigh said afterwards: “The plan was just to go, have fun and enjoy racing, so I was not expecting this at all!
“Thanks to Scottish Athletics for including frame running and putting on another great competition.”
A spokesperson for Scottish Athletics said: “There were terrific RaceRunning performances in invitational races at our 4J studios masters, CE championships.
“Gavin Drysdale clocked 16.25 and 34.39 for 100m and 200m personal bests in the RR3 category and Kayleigh Haggo posted 37.25 in her RR2 200m.
“All three of those performances are world records, subject to ratification processes.
“Well done to Gavin and Kayleigh and their coach John Owens!”
Last month, Kayleigh, 22, spoke of her pride after adding a European gold medal to her World Championship ones.
Kayleigh clinched gold at the European Para Athletics Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
She lit up the women’s RR3 100m final and completely dominated from the start, crossing the finishing line in a time of 18.11 seconds – a lifetime best for the distance and a new world record too.
