Graeme Mathie has agreed to become Ayr United's new managing director in a huge coup for the club.
The former Hibs sporting director has been lured to Somerset after leaving Easter Road, where he spent seven years as head of recruitment and then sporting director.
Mathie, 39, who unearthed stars like John McGinn for the capital club, has been charged with revamping Ayr off the park.
The Ayrshire Post can reveal the former Marr College pupil turned down a number of other offers to become United's new figurehead.
He will oversee day-to-day operations in a bold appointment by chairman David Smith.
Mathie, who lives in Ayr, will have an "overarching" responsibility for the club's performance both on and off the park, the Ayrshire Post understands.
