Aymeric Laporte explains Man City mentality going into Premier League decider at Brighton

Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte says there has been no change in approach this week ahead of Sunday's crucial fixture at Brighton.

City are battling Liverpool for the Premier League title, and go into the final day a point ahead of their rivals. A win on the South Coast would see the Blues crowned Champions for a second successive season.

With so much at stake, City could have been forgiven for trying to make sure every aspect of their preparation was perfect going into the final 90 minutes of the season, but Laporte insists it has been business as usual at the Etihad.

“It's the end of the season, so we are obviously really excited to finish in the best way and become champions of the Premier League again. We haven't done anything particularly different in terms of preparation," he explained.

"We have trained every day and, personally, I go home, try to rest and that's all. Just try to look after yourself the more you can to be ready for the challenge on Sunday.

“Our routine hasn't particularly changed over the course of the last few months being involved in the title race. We try to look after ourselves as usual, with our fitness, nutrition, etc.

"Now, in our hands we think about not making any mistakes in this last run”

Brighton star sends Man City warning ahead of Premier League final day

With Liverpool sitting on an impressive 94 points - enough to win all but one of the previous 25 Premier League seasons - City have been pushed all the way for the title, and can't rely on the Reds to drop points if it all goes wrong at Brighton.

However, Laporte says the motivation of lifting the trophy on Sunday has driven him and his teammates on a 13-match winning streak since defeat at Newcastle in January.

“Personally, I think the most important thought is to visualise myself with the trophy in my hands," Laporte said.

"That has been my motivation and something to look forward to. When the last game is approaching, I have that thought in my mind, the vision that, if we win this game, we can become champions again and lift another Premier League trophy”.
